The witty parliamentary sketch-writer, journalist and broadcaster has died of pancreatic cancer.

Simon was born in 26 May 1946 and passed away 5 January 2014. He was diagnosed in 2010 with pancreatic cancer but was still working for The Guardian in December 2013. As well as writing parliamentary sketches for The Guardian, he reviewed wine 5m Atlantic City’s Golden Nugget casino states it will not fight a order from the court needing it to payout $1. for The Spectator  and for many years presented the satirical News Quiz on BBC Radio 4.    

His daughter, Amy said in The Guardian; “my dad, was working, socialising and laughing to the end.  I”m sure his energy and passion for work helped him survive so much longer than pancreatic cancer patients are expected to”.

Simon survived for three and a half years after being diagnosed.
